Microsoft’s Windows Intune cloud-based desktop management and maintenance software was released today. The software and service solution is available in 36 countries, with prices starting at $11 per PC per month.

Combining a hosted management console accessed through a browser with a client application deployed to managed PCs, Windows Intune is a one-stop solution for update deployment, malware protection, fault identification, remote assistance, security policy management, and inventorying and asset management. As a cloud-based service, it doesn’t require on-site servers or other infrastructure. It doesn’t even require a Windows domain infrastructure; standalone, non-domain-joined machines are supported.
